“The ocean doesn’t just teach you how to surf. It teaches you how to respect life, patience, and yourself.”

Dhiyan’s surfing story began in Aceh, where rivers met the ocean and became his first playground. Taught by his father and uncle, he spent countless afternoons riding waves on the river before stepping into the open sea. At 15, he made a bold move—flying alone to Bali, guided only by courage and YouTube tutorials, determined to find his place among the island’s surf community.

In Bali, Dhiyan trained daily at iconic breaks such as Uluwatu, Legian, Canggu, and Keramas. His persistence paid off in competitions like Step High qualifiers, and in 2024, Volcom recognized his talent with a global endorsement—a milestone for a young Indonesian surfer carving his path.

Dhiyan believes surfing is more than winning heats; it is about respect—for the ocean, for fellow surfers, and for the craft itself. Today, he trains under PGSI, balancing studies and competitions, aiming to represent Indonesia internationally, carrying the humility and determination that first brought him from Aceh’s rivers to Bali’s waves.
